Arkansas Governor Signs Law To Restrict Freedom of Information Act Pertaining to Governor
Citing security needs. Ah, the memories of the olde police state. Conservatards rejoice!

Converatards "believe" in freedom only when it suits them. Restricting the freedom of information act is surely conservative and not authoritarian in any way possible whatsoever like the pigs flying in the sky. Restriction of freedom because of some un-cited imaginary security threat is actually on brand for communist Soviet Union. 👀

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signs law restricting release of her travel, security records:https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/16/sarah-huckabee-sanders-records-law-00116402

The law, which took effect immediately, allows the state to wall off details about the security provided the GOP governor and other constitutional officers, including who travels on the State Police airplane and the cost of individual trips. Proposed changes to the 1967 law protecting the public’s access to government records were among several items Sanders had placed on the agenda for a session that met this week.

First it was a law to restrict release of many government officials travel records then they got pushback from members of their own party. Instead of dropping the whole thing they got what they wanted.

Sanders sought the security exemptions as the State Police was sued by an attorney and blogger who accused the agency of illegally withholding records about the governor’s travel and security. But Matthew Campbell, who runs the Blue Hog Report website, asked a judge to dismiss the lawsuit after Campbell said he tested positive for COVID-19 and would be unable to attend a hearing that had been scheduled for Thursday

Ah, there's the reason why the governor really sought this law. She wants to hide her information from lawsuits just like an authoritarian would. WHOOPS! All those trips to billionaire donors and shadowy figures.

It makes it easier for conspiracy theories to arise and actually threaten the governor. It's Arkansas, a bulwark of stupidity anyway who cares.
