Woo Nelly! This cop ATTACKED a man, Luther Gonzalez-Hall, who asked him then asked another (in a White Castle) for directions. The cop didn't like that the man asked someone else for more clear directions.
Charges against the man were dismissed because there was no basis for resisting arrest. Like why did the cop feel he needed to intervene in someone else's business.
9.3 MILLION DOLLARS why?
After a 5 year legal battle, the Wayne County jury handed down a $9.3 million verdict to Gonzales-Hall. His attorney Azzam Elder says his client tried to de-escalate the situation, but the officer escalated it and violated his client's constitutional rights.
"This young man now has to walk around with a limp because of the surgeries he's had, and all of that was preventable if the officer kept his cool and just given him a ride home," he said.
They screwed him for life. Imagine how this could have been avoided like y'know, PROTECTING AND SERVING. DRIVE the man HOME.
