If hospital administration is telling cops they cannot do what they requested without breaking the law then go threaten and arrest hospital administration. That's too logical and instead they threatened the nurse there with arrest and were going to follow through with it. What a way to turn a nurse against cops (obviously against BAD COPS).

The end result? Detective Payne was fired. The Lieutenant, Tracy, was only demoted even though he used his authority to order people to break the law. They didn't get the blood draw. The nurse got 500k settlement without filing a lawsuit. Utah lawmakers clarified the law for the cops in order to prevent this "misunderstanding" in the future. Nothing about the law has changed. It was an unlawful order with incompetent cops trying to push people to break the law.
